Acoustic Excellence

Offering a full-bodied presentation, the KEF LS50 Meta are the perfect passive speaker option to pair with your chosen amplifier. The LS50 Metas introduce innovative Metamaterial Absorption Technology. This maze-like structure absorbs sound that would usually bounce off the back of the speaker cabinet and through the tweeter dome, making distortion much lower than in more traditional speaker designs. The crossover has also been improved to better handle all drive unit changes for a cleaner reproduction of high, mid and low frequencies. 

Uni-Q Driver Technology

KEF’s coveted Uni-Q drive-units, now in their 12th generation, have been applied in a capable 5.25” tweeter and mid-bass driver combination to offer great in-room dispersion, meaning you’ll be in the ‘sweet spot’ for the best listening experience wherever you are in the room. The tweeter sits in the throat of the mid-bass driver to expertly pin-point sound as intended by the original recording artist or producer.

Easy To Set Up

KEF haven’t messed with the basics when designing the KEF LS50 Metas, and the basic connections you’ll need haven’t changed much from the original LS50s released back in 2012. The LS50s will work together to offer great stereo separation and a warm, crystal-clear soundstage.

The LS50 Metas will need to be connected to an amplifier for power and control, giving you the freedom to choose an amplifier that best suits your needs and the type of content you listen to. We love the LS50 Metas with the Sonos Amp, giving you the option of wireless control using the Sonos App on your phone.

Timeless Design

Compact in stature at just 30cm tall, the KEF LS50 Metas will perform perfectly in a medium-sized space, and could be a great solution for your living room or entertaining space. The curved front panel made of glass fibre combined with polyester resin is extremely rigid, giving the Uni-Q array driver a solid foundation. A fully-braced MDF cabinet to minimise any resonance or reverberation.

Four different colour finishes, Mineral White, Carbon Black, Titanium Grey and Royal Blue are available meaning you’re spoilt for choice, and the stylish design of the original LS50s has only been tweaked ever so slightly to give you a timeless look.

Q. Can the LS50 Metas be used with any amplifier?
A. KEF gives a recommended 40-100W Amplifier requirement for use with the KEF LS50s.

Q. Can the LS50s be stand mounted?
A. KEF’s secure S2 Floor Stands can be used to mount the LS50 Metas if you wanted to.

Q. Will the KEF LS50 Metas fill my room?
A. As What Hi-Fi’s stand mounted speaker of the year 2020, it’s true that the LS50 Metas pack a punch. At their smaller size, we probably wouldn’t suggest them for very large, open plan spaces but they will definitely fill the average living room, kitchen or office space.

Q. Can the KEF LS50 Metas be used wirelessly?
A. They will need connection to an amplifier, but depending on which Amplifier you use you may well be able to control the set up wirelessly. KEF also make the LS50 Wireless II if an all-in-one, active set up is what you’re after.
