Samsung 2024 TV Lineup: A Brief Overview
Samsung's 2024 TV lineup offers a wide range of options, making it both exciting and daunting for us consumers. The range can be broadly categorised into four main segments: Crystal UHD, QLED, OLED, and Neo QLED (available in 4K and 8K).
From entry-level to flagship, performance improves as you ascend the lineup. However, it's important to note that Samsung doesn't prioritise either of its premium 4K technologies over the other like other brands do.
In Samsung’s eyes, OLED and 4K Neo QLED both represent premium options, and your choice between them depends on your specific needs and preferences.Beyond these traditional TV categories, Samsung also offers lifestyle TVs designed to seamlessly integrate into your home decor, providing a more aesthetically pleasing viewing experience.
So, that’s a quick explanation of the Samsung 2024 TV lineup. But what are the specifics?
Samsung's 2024 TV Lineup: Crystal UHD TVs
Made up of the Samsung DU7100, DU8000, DU8500, and DU9000, Samsung’s Crystal UHD TVs are the entry-level models in the Samsung 2024 TV lineup.
These LCD models utilise Samsung's Crystal Processor 4K and the Tizen Smart platform, which we see in all models in the 2024 range.
The DU8000 is probably where we’d suggest starting your search if you’re tempted by the Crystal UHD's, as it offers better colour accuracy compared to the entry-level DU7100. Plus, it also features a slimmer design and Samsung's Solarcell One Remote, which is powered by light rather than batteries.
The DU8500 is essentially the same TV as the DU8000, with a different stand design, and the DU9000, available only in 98", offers the most affordable large-screen option from Samsung.
While budget-friendly and available in a wide range of sizes from 43" to 98", the Crystal UHDs offer a pretty basic viewing experience. So, although this may be great for secondary spaces within the home, if you’re looking for an enhanced viewing experience, we’d recommend stepping up into the more premium options within the range.
Samsung’s 2024 TV Lineup: QLED TV Options
If you're looking for better colours, enhanced brightness, and improved contrast than the Crystal UHD models, QLED TVs are the way to go. Samsung has three QLED TVs on offer for 2024, each offering a step up in performance.
These TVs utilise quantum dots (tiny particles that emit different colours of light) to enhance colour accuracy and brightness.
Samsung has been a pioneer in popularising QLED technology, and their models are known for their versatility, performing well in various lighting conditions, offering a wide range of sizes, and maintaining a reasonable price point.

Samsung Q60D QLED 4K TV
Panel Type: QLED | Available Sizes: 43", 50", 55", 65", 75", 85" |
The brand's entry-level QLED TV is fairly basic; however, while it shares the same Crystal Processor 4K as the previous models in the Samsung 2024 TV lineup, the addition of quantum dots and 100% colour volume make it a popular option for those looking to benefit from quantum dot technology without splashing out on a premium model.
Available in a wide range of sizes, this model features Samsung’s AirSlim design, a boundless screen with a minimal bezel around the edge and an adjustable stand.
The Q60D also features Samsung’s Dual LED technology and Quantum HDR which works to bring out more details in the darker areas of a scene than you’d expect to see on a conventional UHD TV.

A decent upgrade on the Q60D, the Samsung Q70D is the most affordable model in the lineup to benefit from a 4K/120Hz panel. However, there’s no advanced local dimming with this model, and rather than full array backlighting, it employs LED edge lighting instead.
One of the standout features is 4K AI upscaling, which ensures that non-4K content looks its best. The Q70D also boasts a faster refresh rate and Motion Xcelerator 120Hz for smoother, more responsive gaming. Additionally, FreeSync Premium reduces screen tearing and stuttering for an enhanced console gaming experience.

Samsung Q80D QLED 4K TV
Panel Type: QLED | Available Sizes: 50", 55", 65", 75", 85" |
The Q80D features a significant upgrade with Samsung's most intelligent AI processor found in their QLED TVs. The NQ4 AI Gen 2 processor is four times faster than the one in the Q70D and boasts two and a half times more AI neural networks, enabling more effective optimisation of both picture and sound.
The Q80D also takes a step up with Direct Full Array technology, whereby the LEDs are directly behind the screen and are controlled by dimming zones. These ensure more control over the picture you see, offering more precise backlighting, brighter whites, and enhanced contrast.
For gamers, we have the same solid features as the previous model, including four HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K 120fps, VRR, and ALLM, but we also step up to FreeSync Premium Pro, which works with HDR (high dynamic range) for better visuals. Plus, this TV also introduces Dolby Atmos for enhanced sound performance too.
For us, despite often being overshadowed by its pricier siblings, the Q80D offers a surprisingly well-rounded package at a decent price point and is worth considering.

OLED vs. Neo-QLED: Choosing The Right Premium TV
Samsung's premium TV lineup includes OLED and Neo QLED models, each offering exceptional performance but catering to different preferences.
Samsung’s Neo QLED TVs are an evolution of QLED TVs, and they feature a combination of both Mini LED technology and quantum dots for more precise local dimming, reduced blooming, and enhanced brightness, contrast, and colour accuracy.
OLEDs, on the other hand, utilise self-illuminating pixels, offering superior contrast and deep blacks. While they have historically struggled with brightness, recent advancements with the likes of MLA-OLED and QD-OLED TVs have narrowed the gap considerably.
Both OLED and Neo QLED panels offer exceptional colour accuracy, making them ideal for a wide range of content, from movies and sports to gaming. However, they do share a couple of differences. Here's a breakdown of their key benefits:
OLED TVs | Neo-QLED TVs |
✔️ Enhanced Contrast & Black Levels | ✔️ Traditionally higher peak brightness |
✔️ Better for darker rooms and more cinematic viewing | ✔️ Preferred option for particularly bright or well-lit space |
✔️ Wider viewing angles |

Samsung's 2024 TV Lineup: OLED TV Options
Samsung's OLED TV lineup for 2024 consists of three models, each offering a unique combination of features and performance. Here's a brief overview of what you gain as you step up the range:
Samsung S85D OLED 4K TV
Panel Type: OLED | Available Sizes: 55", 65", 77" |
A new entry-level OLED model for 2024, the Samsung S85D is available in 55-inch, 65-inch, and 77-inch screen sizes and boasts the same NQ4 AI Gen 2 processor that is found in all the OLED and NEO QLED models in this range.
The S85D offers OLED HDR to boost the brightness levels for cleaner whites, more perfect blacks, and enhanced contrast. It also introduces Samsung’s Real Depth Enhancer, which is designed to mirror how a human eye processes depth and adjusts the foreground contrast for a more lifelike picture.
Sound-wise, the S85D has support for Dolby Atmos and Samsung’s Object Tracking Lite to mirror the action on the screen, plus Adaptive Sound Pro, which uses AI audio processing to optimise the performance for the content and your space.
With 120Hz gaming support, Motion Xcelerator, and a full suite of gaming features, the Q80D is a great option for gamers. Its Contour Design adds a touch of visual appeal with its curved back too.
As Samsung’s most affordable OLED option, this is a great way to experience what OLED technology can offer without the flagship price tag. Just remember, you might have to sacrifice some elements of the performance for the pleasure, though.
Samsung S85D Specs:
Operating system: Tizen OS
Sizes: 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch
Display type: OLED
Resolution: 4K
Processor: NQ4 AI Gen 2 Processor

Samsung S90D OLED 4K TV
Panel Type: QD-OLED/OLED | Available Sizes: 48", 55", 65", 77", 83" |
The Samsung S90D offers the widest range of screen sizes in the OLED lineup, including the newly added 48-inch and 83-inch models, catering to the demand for smaller and larger OLED options from Samsung.
A big thing to know about the S90D is that it is the first Samsung OLED to introduce quantum dot (QD-OLED) technology in the lineup, bringing added brightness and richer, more vivid colours. Just note, this technology is only available in 55, 65, and 77-inch sizes due to Samsung's manufacturing limitations for larger and smaller QD-OLED panels.
The S90D also benefits from a step up in performance with upgraded OLED HDR+ for further improved brightness levels, better blacks, and impressive depth.
There’s also a step up in specs for gaming with up to 4K/144Hz motion for PC content and 4K/120Hz for ultra-smooth visuals and ultra-low input lag when gaming.
Unlike the Contour design of the S85D, the S90D boasts a sleek Laserslim design with a virtually bezel-less screen. Its adjustable stand helps to accommodate a soundbar, and for those without one, the upgraded sound system delivers an extra 10W of audio output.
Now it’s worth noting there is an additional model in the lineup, the S93D, which is also available in the same 5 screen sizes as the S90D. The only difference between the two models is the colour of the front of the TV and the stand. The S90D comes in graphite black with a space titan stand, while the S93D comes in carbon silver with a satin silver stand.
Samsung S90D Specs:
Operating system: Tizen OS
Sizes: 48-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch, 83-inch
Display type: QD-OLED / OLED

Samsung S95D QD-OLED 4K TV
Panel Type: QD-OLED | Available Sizes: 55", 65", 77" |
The Samsung S95D QD-OLED TV, Samsung’s flagship OLED for 2024, is expected to be a popular choice this year, especially considering it boasts a second-generation QD-OLED panel that’s claimed to be 20-30 percent brighter than its predecessor.
In terms of where it sits in the lineup, we step up once again to OLED HDR Pro, which offers the highest OLED brightness from the brand with the brightest highlights and most impressive contrast for an overall more lifelike, cinematic picture.
The S95D also introduces OLED Glare Free technology, a new feature for Samsung in 2024. Designed to minimise reflections, it's ideal for bright rooms, near windows, or even late-night viewing with the lights on.
Another big change with this TV is the design. With Samsung’s Infinity One design, this is an incredibly slim TV, so it looks great either on the stand or wall mounted. Plus, it also comes with a separate One Connect Box for easy connection to your devices and an even tidier appearance.
The model also steps up to Object Tracking Sound+ for a more immersive sound performance and has support for Freesync Premium Pro.
Samsung S95D Specs:
Operating system: Tizen OS
Sizes: 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch
Display type: QD-OLED

Samsung's 2024 TV Lineup: Neo-QLED 4K Options
Samsung has made a big push in the Neo-QLED market this year, offering both 4K and 8K models. For those seeking 4K resolution, there are three compelling options to consider:
Samsung QN85D Neo-QLED 4K TV
Panel Type: Neo-QLED (Mini-LED) | Available Sizes: 55", 65", 75", 85" |

This is also a solid gaming TV with up to 4K 120Hz motion, AI auto game mode, and FreeSync Premium Pro.

Samsung QN90D Neo-QLED 4K TV

The mid-range 4K Neo-QLED option from Samsung is the QN90D. This model is available in a much larger range of sizes that goes all the way up to 98 inches.
The model steps up from the QN85D by introducing Samsung’s Anti-Reflection technology. Now, this isn’t as advanced as the Glare Free technology in the S95D, but it will help to absorb light, reduce reflections, and improve the overall viewing angles.
You can also expect better detail and contrast with this model too with Neo Quantum HDR+, which will give better HDR brightness, richer colours, and a more true-to-life image.

Samsung's 2024 TV Lineup: Neo-QLED 8K Options
Topping the Neo-QLED lineup are three 8K models: the QN700C, which carries over from 2023, and the new QN800D and QN900D. These models continue to utilise quantum dots and Mini LED technology but elevate the resolution to 8K, offering four times the pixel density of a 4K TV.
While 8K content is still limited, these TVs deliver exceptional picture quality and represent the pinnacle of Samsung's LED technology.
Samsung QN700C Neo-QLED 8K TV
Panel Type: 8K Neo-QLED | Available Sizes: 55", 65", 75" |
Returning for another year, the Samsung QN700C is back for 2024, offering a slightly more budget-friendly 8K option that’s also available in a more convenient 55-inch screen size.
As a returning model, the QN700C utilises last year's Neural Quantum Processor Lite 8K, so a slight step down in processing power compared to the more premium 8K options. However, Neo Quantum HDR 8K delivers a lifelike picture with impressive details, depth, and wide viewing angles, while the anti-reflection screen helps to reduce glare.
The QN700C benefits from Samsung’s Motion Xcelerator Turbo, which doubles the refresh speed, reduces motion blur and halo effects for smoother gameplay, and it also supports 4K gaming at 120Hz.
Sound-wise, the QN700C has Object Tracking Sound Lite and 60w of sound output all in an Infinity One Design, which is super thin thanks to the separate One Connect box.

Samsung's 2024 TV Lineup: Lifestyle TV Options
We've covered a lot of ground in Samsung's TV lineup, and if you've made it this far, you deserve a pat on the back. Before we wrap up, I want to highlight a popular lifestyle TV option: The Frame.
Designed specifically for those looking for a more aesthetically pleasing TV, The Frame is meant to blend seamlessly into your home by resembling a framed piece of art when not in use. If you prioritise design and style over all-out performance, this will be a great option.
Samsung ‘The Frame’ LS03D Lifestyle TV
Panel Type: QLED | Available Sizes: 43", 50", 55", 65", 75", 85" |
The Samsung Frame is designed to look exactly like its name suggests: a picture frame and a work of art on your wall.
It's a premium 4K QLED TV, but when you're not watching anything, it can display your chosen artwork in "art mode" to blend seamlessly with your space.
You can even customise the bezels to look even more like a picture frame designed for your room, and the separate One Connect box allows for a flush wall mount.
Samsung's Art Store offers a monthly selection of free artwork, and you can purchase additional pieces from a collection of over 2,500. Alternatively, you can display your own images using the Samsung Smart Things app.
One really neat feature is that the colours on this TV have been validated by Pantone, ensuring that the artwork looks even closer to real art with rich colours and textures.A new matte display absorbs reflections, eliminating glare for comfortable viewing even on bright days. Samsung has also improved energy efficiency in this year's model. So, when the TV is in art mode, the dynamic refresh rate drops from 120 Hz to 60 Hz, therefore saving energy.
Admittedly, this isn’t the best performing TV in the Samsung lineup, but if you’re design conscious and looking for something that can offer something slightly different, this is a great option.
