We've Seen Panasonic's Z95B OLED TV - Is It Worth the Hype?

At CES 2025, Panasonic unveiled their latest flagship OLED TV, the new Z95B, a TV that’s set to redefine OLED performance and take on the heavyweights in 2025.

Last year, OLED discussions centred around MLA and QD-OLED technologies, but Panasonic has decided to rewrite the rulebook this year, ditching the second-gen MLA panel found in their Z95A and replacing it with their new Primary RGB Tandem panel.

This innovative 4-Stack OLED panel is set to take brightness and colour fidelity to new heights. So, what sets this technology apart and could it really change the future of OLEDs? That’s exactly what we’re exploring in this article.

What Is Primary RGB Tandem OLED?

The standout feature of the Z95B is Panasonic’s innovative Primary RGB Tandem panel. Departing from traditional OLED designs, this 4-layer emission structure, or “4-Stack” panel, distinctly separates red, green, and blue layers within the TV screen, incorporating two dedicated blue emission layers—a configuration referred to as "tandem."

This advanced design results in:

  • Enhanced Brightness: Achieving up to 40% brighter colours compared to previous OLED generations, delivering vivid and lifelike visuals.
  • Wider Colour Gamut: Offering a broader spectrum of colours for more accurate and immersive viewing experiences.

We had the chance to see the Z95B in action at CES, placed side by side with last year’s Z95A, and the difference is definitely striking. Even under the challenging lighting conditions of the show floor, the Z95B managed to impress with its enhanced brightness and vibrant colours.

Of course, this is just our first impression—there’s much more to explore about how it performs in a real-world setting, and we’re excited to dive deeper once we get our hands on it in our studio for a full review. Stay tuned!

Innovations In Heat Management

Boosted performance often To keep up with the Z95B’s improved performance and therefore heat output, Panasonic has brought in some serious tech with their ThermalFlow aerodynamic cooling system, taking inspiration straight from the world of race cars.

Here’s what makes it stand out:

  • Optimised Ventilation: Panasonic re-engineered the chassis with thoughtfully placed vents that ensure hot air is efficiently directed out, keeping the internals cool.
  • Component Repositioning: Key components have been strategically moved to improve airflow and heat management, which helps maintain the TV’s peak performance without compromising its stunning visuals.

This cooling system is more than just clever engineering; it’s a promise of longevity. By reducing the risk of burn-in and maintaining peak brightness levels, it’s a win-win for anyone investing in OLED. We’re curious to see how this innovative system performs in everyday use and look forward to sharing a detailed review soon.

Enhanced Audio by Technics

Panasonic TVs have long been known for their impressive sound performance, and from what we’ve seen at CES, that trend looks set to continue in 2025 with the Z95B, thanks to their collaboration with Technics.

  • Redesigned Speaker Layout: The integration of new line array, side, and up-firing speakers creates a wider and more immersive soundstage.
  • 360-Degree Spatial Audio Processing: Improved spatial audio algorithms provide a theatre-like audio experience, enveloping listeners from all directions.
  • Increased Bass Output: The bass output has been upgraded from 20W to 30W, delivering deeper and more resonant low frequencies.

While we couldn’t do an in-depth audio test at CES, the specs suggest a significant improvement over the already impressive audio performance of the Z95A which is great news!
