LG TV Names Explained
Confused by LG’s TV model names? Don’t worry, you’re not the only one! We'll explain things super simply, but the first thing to remember is that LG's UT Range, NanoCell, and QNED TVs have a unique naming convention compared to their OLEDs. Let's break down the differences.

LG 2024 TV Lineup: What’s New This Year?
WebOS 24
Technically more of a mainstay in their TV lineup, but LG’s WebOS has had an upgrade this year, with some subtle tweaks to enhance the overall usability.
Fewer ads and regular software updates being promised (four over the next five years) are among some of the improvements, and we can vouch that these sort of changes have ensured a more user-friendly and feature-rich experience than before.
a11 AI Processor 4K
For 2024, LG has introduced their new flagship processor, the a11 AI processor 4K, which offers a four-fold higher AI performance over its predecessor. Found in LG’s flagship G4 and M4 models, this new advanced processor will offer a considerable improvement in upscaling, brightness and better colour delivery.
AI Sound Pro
LG have also introduced AI Sound Pro for 2024, which will offer some of their high-end TVs support for virtual 11.1.12 surround sound. They also have ensured that for 2024, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support is available on all models.
LG 2024 TV Lineup Breakdown
Those are some of the standout features of the new lineup. But what are the specifics?
LG UT Range TVs
LG's UT range for 2024 is made up of 4 different TVs: the LG UT73, LG UT80, LG UT81, and the more premium LG UT91.
As LG’s entry-level UHD models, all are 4K TVs with a 60Hz native refresh rate and use the same a5 AI 4K Gen 7 Processor.
The key difference within this range is that the UT91 introduces local dimming technology, which gives this TV more control over the picture quality. So, if you’ve got the budget, you’ll experience much better visual performance with this model compared to the others lower down in the range.
LG NanoCell TVs
There are two main models in the NanoCell lineup: the Nano81 and Nano82. These models are essentially the same in terms of performance, differing only in design (Ash Blue vs. Dark Iron Grey).
LG’s NanoCell TVs are still 4K UHD LED TVs and are direct lit, with a 60Hz native refresh rate. They also feature the same a5 AI Processor 4K Gen 7 found in the UT model below.
The Nano models are still a good, affordable option in the lineup but offer a step up from the entry-level LCDs by using nanoparticles. These sit behind the screen and filter out colour impurities to leave you with more pure, accurate colours and will help increase brightness too by removing duller tones.
These models are also known for offering better performance at wide viewing angles, with LG claiming 100% colour consistency even if you were at a 30-degree angle from the centre.
Both models have a simple, two-leg stand design and a nice slim bezel. However, the Nano81 86-inch model differs in specification slightly, boasting a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother motion, a faster Alpha 8 AI processor for enhanced picture and sound quality, and support for FreeSync and VRR for improved gaming performance.

LG’s QNED TV Options
QNED technology essentially takes NanoCell technology and combines it with Quantum Dots to offer a big leap in colour reproduction and saturation. Therefore, from an LG QNED TV, you can expect improved brightness, better contrast, and more vivid and accurate colours.
For 2024, this range of TVs has received some notable upgrades to the chipsets, and they’ve added more dimming zones, which will offer better sharpness and crisper colours. Plus this year, we now have a 98” QNED model available too.
Overall, there are four core QNED TVs, two regular QNEDs and two Mini-LED QNEDs to choose from. We’ll break down each model below:
LG QNED80
Panel Type: QNED | Available Sizes: 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, 86-inch |
Available in a wide range of sizes, LG’s entry-level QNED80 is a great option for those looking for an affordable 4K TV without all the bells and whistles of a TV further up the range.
As the most affordable QNED in the lineup, the QNED80 only boasts a 60Hz panel and only offers HDMI 2.0 support. However, it does have a slim design with a two leg stand and some nice features, such as LG’s a5 AI processor 4K Gen 7, local dimming, and some gaming features, including ALLM and a game dashboard.

A considerable improvement, the QNED86 is available in a wide range of sizes from 50” - 86”. These models have a centre pedestal stand though there is a QNED85 variant in the 86” size which has a 2-leg stand if that is better suited to your setup.
The QNED86 is the most affordable 4K LCD TV from LG to feature HDMI 2.1 bandwidth with support for 4K120fps and VRR making it a good affordable option for gaming.
This TV also boasts some improvements on the QNED80 including a step up to a 120hz native panel, a LG’s a8 AI processor 4K, FreeSync compatibility, and Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro which will give a better HDR performance. We also benefit from Motion Pro for smoother motion, LG's personalised picture wizard for easier picture customisation, and improved sound quality thanks to the upgraded processor.
For those keen-eyed shoppers, you might also be able to find a QNED87 model on certain websites. Don’t worry, this is the exact same TV as the QNED86, the only variation is the colour and the stand design.

We don’t see these being perfect for everyone but if you’re after a very large screen size and decent performance, this is definitely one worth checking out!

LG QNED91
Panel Type: QNED Mini-LED | Available Sizes: 65-inch, 75-inch, 86-inch |
The QNED91 represents a significant upgrade from the models previously mentioned in this blog, thanks to the introduction of Mini-LED technology. This model combines the strengths of Quantum Dot NanoCell technology with mini-LED backlighting, offering a more precise and vibrant picture.
Unlike traditional LED TVs with a few hundred LEDs, Mini-LEDs like the QNED91 boast tens of thousands of smaller LEDs. This, coupled with advanced dimming zones and technology, allows for more control over the backlight itself, resulting in more accurate images, better contrast and brighter, more true-to-life colours.
This model also features Million Grey Scale, which helps the TV differentiate between shades of grey, which further improves the contrast. You’ll also notice the addition of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support too as well as the same great gaming features mentioned in the previous model including 4K 120fps, ALLM, VRR, AMD FreeSync and more.
If you're looking for an high-performing alternative to OLED, the QNED91 will be an excellent choice, especially in well-lit environments or for daytime viewing.
LG QNED91 Specs:
Operating system: webOS
Sizes: 65-inch, 75-inch, 86-inch
Display type: QNED Mini-LED

LG QNED99
Panel Type: QNED Mini-LED | Available Sizes: 75-inch, 86-inch |
The QNED99 is LG’s flagship 8K QNED Mini-LED TV and it’s only available in the large screen sizes of 75 and 86-inches.
Along with the leap to 8K resolution, the QNED99 also offers LG’s a9 Processor 8K Gen 7, Precision Dimming Pro+ for even better control over the backlighting and a step up in the audio performance with 60W of audio output and a 4.2 channel speaker system.
8K TVs are still not hugely popular due to their high relative pricepoint and lack of 8K content on the market, so we wouldn’t suggest rushing out to buy this model. But if you’re after the best of the best, this TV does offer something called a9 AI Super Upscaling 8K which upscales non-8K content to 8K resolution which could make it a more compelling option for you.
LG QNED99 Specs:
Operating system: webOS
Sizes: 75-inch, 86-inch
Display type: QNED Mini-LED

Processor: a9 Processor 8K Gen 7

LG’s OLED Options:
When it comes to LG’s OLED options, they’ve tightened up the lineup. So, compared to last year’s five models, we now have four to choose from: the entry-level LG B4, mid-range LG C4, the flagship G4 as well as the LG M4.
Just like a lot of brands, LG have backed OLED for a while now. Unlike traditional LED TVs, OLEDs utilise self-illuminating pixels, eliminating the need for a backlight completely.
This approach offers a significant advantage in terms of picture quality, ensuring OLED TVs deliver deeper blacks, better contrast, and more true to life colours, for a more immersive viewing experience.
While OLED TVs have historically faced challenges in reaching the same peak brightness levels as LED TVs, recent advancements have dramatically improved their performance.
LG's introduction of a second-generation MLA panel in their class-leading G4 OLED TV has significantly boosted brightness levels, making it a much more compelling option for those seeking the best possible picture quality even in bright spaces.

LG B4
Panel Type: OLED | Available Sizes: 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch |
LG’s entry-level OLED for 2024 is the B4 and it’s available in the same range of sizes as the B3 from 55” to 77”. Having dropped the A-Series from previous years, this is now the most affordable OLED option LG has to offer.
Powering the B4 is LG’s a8 AI processor 4K, a notable upgrade from last year's processor. This advanced chip, which has already been featured in the LG QNED91, boasts a 1.3-fold increase in AI performance and a 1.6-times faster processing speed compared to its predecessor.
Gamers will appreciate the B4's 4 HDMI ports (supporting 4K at 120fps), impressive response time, and support for a wide range of gaming features like VRR, ALLM, and more.
Sound-wise, the B4 features a 2-channel setup with 20W audio output and AI Sound Pro enhancements for virtual 9.1.2 channels.
In comparison to last year’s LG B3, you might not notice a huge leap in picture quality with this TV but this updated version will be brighter. It’s not the best OLED offering from LG but it’s a solid all-rounder and a great OLED option for those on a tighter budget. That said, if you frequently watch TV in bright environments or during the day, you might want to consider one of LG's OLED evo models or an LCD alternative instead.
LG B4 Specs:
Operating system: webOS
Sizes: 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch
Display type: OLED
Resolution: 4K
Processor: a8 AI processor 4K

LG C4
Panel Type: OLED | Available Sizes: 42-inch, 48-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch, 83-inch |
As arguably one of LG’s most popular TVs, the C4 offers a brilliant balance of price and performance. The LG C-Series is always a top contender for us when it comes to best value for money TVs and it's only getting better every year.
Naturally, with such appetite for this mid-range OLED TV, LG have made sure its available in a huge range of sizes. It also steps up to LG's a9 AI Processor 4K Gen 7, offering enhancements in picture and sound. According to LG, this means you can expect a 30% increase in peak brightness than the B4 and a notably brighter performance than last year's C3 model.
The LG C4 also introduces the brand’s high-performance ‘OLED evo’ technology, which ensures better contrast, colours, and, of course, brightness. Gamers will be glad to hear the C4 supports a suite of gaming features too, including 144Hz refresh rates as well as enhanced sound performance with a 2.2ch system with a 40W output and support for AI Sound Pro.
The C4's sleek design, featuring an incredibly thin profile (thanks to OLED's lack of backlighting) and a stylish centre pedestal stand, makes it a great-looking addition to any home. Plus, its impressive performance, versatile features, and wide range of sizes make it really difficult to look past when it comes to value for money.
LG C4 Specs:
Operating system: webOS
Sizes: 42-inch, 48-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch, 83-inch
Display type: OLED evo
Resolution: 4K

LG G4
Panel Type: MLA OLED | Available Sizes: 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch, 83-inch, 97-inch |
Our penultimate TV within the LG 2024 TV lineup is the flagship OLED, the LG G4. Building on the success of the G3 last year, the G4 has already been billed as one of the very best TVs on the market to date.
The G3 introduced MLA technology, which incorporates tiny micro lenses into the panel to improve the efficiency of individual diodes by directing more light toward the viewer. It also featured brightness booster max for further brightness enhancement. This year, the G4 is even brighter with a second-generation MLA OLED panel and is now available in the 83-inch size for the first time.
It’s not a huge step up in performance from the previous generation, but even incremental improvements are impressive considering the fanfare surrounding the G3. LG also expects this TV to be 150% brighter than the B-series model, which is something to bear in mind if you’re looking for an OLED in a light and bright space.
The G4 introduces a new a11 AI processor 4K offering another upgrade in picture and sound and boasts even more AI enhancements to improve the content you’re watching, particularly when it comes to upscaling and adjusting your TV settings to match the creative intent.
The G-series has always featured a sleek, ultra-slim design, designed to be wall-mounted for a flush finish. This year, we see a new option: the 55" and 65" models can now be purchased with either a LG G4 Wall-mount variation or a new LG G4 Stand-Mount variation which features a single-pole design that can be adjusted to accommodate a soundbar.
As expected, the G4 is also perfect for gamers who require support for 4K at 144Hz fps. However, it's worth noting that the 97-inch version lacks both MLA technology and only offers 4K at 120 fps.
LG G4 Specs:
Operating system: webOS
Sizes: 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch, 83-inch, 97-inch
Display type: MLA OLED (97” = OLED)

LG M4
Panel Type: MLA OLED | Available Sizes: 65-inch, 77-inch, 83-inch, 97-inch |
The LG M4 is essentially a variant of the G4, with one major difference. It has a separate wireless connection box called Zero Connect, which houses all of your connections, including HDMI ports, and can be placed up to 10 m away from the TV.
This means the only wire you need to have from the TV is the power. Handy if you’re after a more discreet finish and gives flexibility for where you could mount your TV.
LG claims that this is the world’s first TV with wireless video and audio transmission at 4K 144Hz, and this model has a 4-screen multiview option, which, alongside support for G-Sync and FreeSync, makes this a great gaming TV.
In our opinion, the M4 is a very exciting concept; it’s just still on the pricey side right now and not quite what we’d call consumer tech.
LG G4 Specs:
Operating system: webOS
Sizes: 65-inch, 77-inch, 83-inch, 97-inch
Display type: MLA OLED (97” = OLED)
Resolution: 4K
