Both Sub 4 and Sub (Gen 3) are suitable for a medium-sized or large room and moderate to high volume levels. 

Sub 4 boasts a new matte finish compared with Sub (Gen 3)’s high-gloss finish. The latest generation also boasts increased processing power, memory and new WiFi radios over previous generations making this Sonos’ most advanced sub to date. It also uses fewer materials and is more energy efficient.
